Rep. Trent Franks, a senior Arizona Congressman, is calling on Robert Muller, special counsel for the Department of Justice in the investigation about the meddling of Russia in the US elections, to resign immediately.
The Republican representative, issued a statement on Tuesday. Muller is prohibited by law for serving as a special counsel if he has a conflict of interest.
Considering that Muller and former FBI Director James Comey are allies, going back to 2003 -at least- when they worked together in Washington as FBI Director and Deputy Attorney General respectively and it’s a known fact that they’re close friends, he has clearly a conflict of interest.
In a statement to The Daily Caller, Franks said “Bob Mueller is in clear violation of federal code and must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties.”
The close relationship between Muller and Comey, is not the only thing on Franks’ mind when calling for the resignation. He also believes that Muller is not conducting a neutral probe. He’s filled the investigative team with individuals who have either donated to the Democrats, to Hillary Clinton, or both.
The Washington Times, in a recent report, speaks about Muller’s obsession with Russian Oligarchs involved in transactions with Donald Trump’s associates, with the purpose of laundering money. Leaks to the media regarding this investigation have been plentiful and very well covered. However, leaks with information declaiming any evidence haven’t been so well covered.
There’s surely an incredibly solid reason for that.
